Portland Drummer’s Killer Let Off Light

By Andy Doerschuk Published November 19, 2010

In the early hours of November 4, 2009, Portland Oregon drummer Kipp Crawford died in a particularly grusome manner. The 31-year-old was robbed while riding his bicycle home and left in the street after being assaulted, where he was then run over by two automobiles. The drivers knew each other and were on their way home after a night of drinking.

Yesterday one of the drivers, Felisa Larae Washington, pled guilty in the Multnomah County courthouse to driving under the influence, and was sentenced to 15 days in jail, three years of probation, a $1,000 fine, and treatment for addiction. Sadly, the district attorney’s office believed that it was the only change for which they could prosecute Washington. The other driver, Carlos Tyrone McCall, is contesting the drunken driving charge filed against him. Police are still searching for the robber. Crawford played with the band Celilo.
