LP founder, Martin Cohen is known for throwing an awesome birthday bash. But this year, Cohen decided to make the annual event a fundraising performance to aid the victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Martin packed his home to capacity, with nearly 300 supporters. Among the guests that attended was conga superstar Giovanni Hidalgo. The fiery Puerto Rican conguero anchored an all-star salsa band that featured the cream of New York’s Latin music scene. Performance clips can be viewed at www.congahead.com.
“I’m happy to announce that the event, with my family’s matching funds, raised $7,000,” says Martin. “And I want to offer my special thanks to Latin Percussion, KMC Music, and Fender Musical Instrument Corporation for their generous support.”
