The Pipes And Drums Of Barnegat Bay Seek NJ Drummers

By Andy Doerschuk Published August 2, 2009

New Jersey drummers -- it's time to get your kilt on. The Pipes And Drums Of Barnegat Bay are recruiting pipers and drummers of any caliber to join their grade 5 chanter group.

Barnegat Bay's drum instructor, Gordon Bell, is an open player and EUSPBA judge who enjoys a very successful competitive record in both solos and bands. He began pipe band drumming at the age of eight under the tutelage of Norman Macleod and the Kenmure Pipe Band (and received further tuition from Dave Armit, Bob Turner, and Alec Duthart). Bell's band experience includes the Kenmure Pipe Band, Worcester Kiltie, Muirhead And Sons, 78th Fraser Highlanders, and City Of Washington Pipe Bands. The group practices on Mondays at 7:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 415 Washington St., Toms River, New Jersey, 08753.
