Stick It To MS Hopes To Break World Record
Folks in Manchester, England should expect a lot of racket on July 15 – at least for five minutes – when drummers from around the UK will gather for the 2012 edition of Stick It To MS. Richard Price, the founder of the charity event, hopes to draw 800 drummers to the EventCity convention center to break the world record it set in 2009, when 582 drummers played at once in Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena and raised £66,000 for The Multiple Sclerosis Society (see photo above). Drummers at all skill levels are welcome at this year’s fundraiser, and are asked to raise £100 apiece for the charity.
The event, sponsored by Natal Drums (Marshall Amplification), will feature a whole host of celebrities together with drummers from Natal’s artist roster.
Jim Marshall OBE, founder of Marshall Amps and Natal Drums, was a great supporter of SITMS. He was a life-long drummer and a committed fund raiser having raised millions for numerous charities throughout his life. Although Jim made his name making the archetypal rock ’n’ roll amplifier he had an ambition to one day make drum kits that would be as innovative as his amps. This dream came true two years ago with Jim’s acquisition of Natal Percussion. The SITMS event combines two of Jim’s greatest passions: the support of worthy charities and playing the drums.
