At least one Southern California drummer had a pretty lousy holiday season thanks to a burglar with an taste for vintage drums.
Bob Patrowics of San Marcos woke up two days before Christmas to discover his garage door mysteriously open and that his prized set of 1965 Slingerland Silver Sparkle drums missing. Everything else was in tact, including a set of valuable tools. “I would have preferred that they took all the tools,” Patrowics told the North County Times.
A working drummer who now plays with The Rudy Jones Band, Patrowics owned the set for 20 years, and as you can see in the photo, kept them in pristine condition. Patrowics values the kit at $5,000 although, sadly, it was uninsured. The stolen items included soft drum cases with his name and phone number inside. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at 760-510-5200.
