Thomas Pridgen Resurfaces With New Band
We’ve got news for our friends who wonder what happened to Thomas Pridgen after his unceremonious divorce from The Mars Volta. Apparently, the muscular drumming rastaman hightailed it back to his old stomping ground in San Francisco’s freakier east bay suburb, Berkeley, where he put together his own progressive rock outfit, The Memorials, fronted by female howler Viveca Hawkins. The band’s myspace page features snippets of a few very cool, aggressive songs. We hear talk of an upcoming album, too. The Memorials have only begun to make selected appearances, including the Afropunk Festival in Brooklyn, New York on June 26. Stay tuned. You can bet we will.
