Tommy Lee’s Roller Coaster Drum Kit

In how many ways can Tommy Lee propel his drums through the air? The answer clearly is many, many ways. Past Mötely Crüe tours have featured the notorious sticksman flipping vertically, playing upside down, and flying over the audience’s heads, but Lee is attempting to outdo himself on the band’s current tour by playing a kit that rides a 360-degree roller coaster loop during his drum solo.

“This idea came about from when I was a kid going to concerts,” he told Blabbermouth.com. “Whenever the drummer started his drum solo, I wondered why people would leave to go get a beer, buy a t-shirt, restroom, whatever! I wanted to show people what happens behind the drum set.”

Beer sales will most likely be slow during Lee’s solo, which will include one lucky fan pulled out of the audience who will ride the coaster with Lee. Mötely Crüe will be on the road with Posion and the New York Dolls through August, so who knows? Maybe you can be the lucky audience member to get a free ride. Just don’t eat a hotdog first, if you know what I mean.
