TRAPS Benefit Boasts Bounty Of Top Drummers

(Left) Check out this jam from last year’s TRAP benefit with Terry Bozzio, Richie “Gajate” Garcia, Airto Moreia, Danny Seraphine, Luis Conte, and Danny de los Reyes. Wow.

Another all-star cast of drummers will assemble at the Sunken Gardens in beautiful Santa Barbara, California on June 13 for The Rhythmic Arts Project’s Eighth Annual Benefit Concert & Auction. Gospel great Tata Vega and Carl Graves will front the group Flip Diggity with Chris Pinnick (guitar), Jimmy Calire (piano), Steve Nelson (bass), and Eddie Tuduri and Marty Fera (drums). Expect some serious ringers to play musical drum chairs throughout the day, including Walfredo Reyes, Sr., Luis Conte, Danny Reyes, Munyungo Jackson, Hani Naser, Mike Tempo, Rick Geragi, and Jorge Bermudez. Special guest Danny Seraphine, original drummer and composer with the band Chicago, plans to sit in on a few Chicago classics. Zappa alum Chad Wackerman promises to join The Carl Verheyen Band, featuring Dave Marotta on bass and Walfredo Reyes, Jr. on drums and percussion — along with tons of other special guest drummers, yet to be announced. Santa Barbara¹s Dancing Drum will conduct a benefit drum circle. Tickets are only $20 in advance, $25 day of event, available by calling Eddie Tuduri or Traci Collins at 805-745-8280.
