World’s Biggest Drum Kit Debuts Next Week

Attendees of Vienna, Austria’s Prater amusement park will be in for a surprise next Tuesday when they encounter the debut of the world’s largest drum set.

Named The Big Boom, the kit measures 21 feet tall by 26 feet wide, and features enormous Paiste cymbals hovering over a gigantic DrumCraft kit. The four drummers in the percussion ensemble Drumarctic will work in tandem to play the kit hourly on May 1, culminating with a drumming and fireworks show at 10:00 p.m.

The Drumarctic website suggests that the musicians plan to take The Big Boom on tour at some point in the future, even though no further dates have been posted. Maybe they had some trouble finding roadies.
