Allison Home Opens At Buddy Holly Center

The Buddy Holly Center in Lubbock, Texas performed a ribbon cutting ceremony today to open its newest feature – the fully-restored childhood home of Jerry Allison, who played drums in the late rock legend’s backup band The Crickets.

The Center, based in Holly’s hometown, spent $148,000 to renovate the house where Holly and Allison wrote “That’ll Be the Day,” and move it to its grounds. Allison visited the new installation yesterday to share anecdotes of the band’s heyday, before Holly was killed in a plane crash in 1959.
