In honor of Rush's 40th Anniversary Tour which kicked off on May 8th in Tulsa, OK, DW invites drummers and Rush fans alike to enter the "Not Tom Sawyer" video contest. Pay tribute to legendary Rush drummer, Neil Peart by filming yourself playing drums along to your favorite Rush song and enter for a chance to win a DW Performance Series Time Machine Snare! This spectacular Performance Series snare drum is an homage to Peart's iconic, steampunk DW Time Machine drumset used on Rush's "Clockwork Angels" tour and was never sold to the public and is not available anywhere at any price!

LOS ANGELES COLLEGE OF MUSIC ANNOUNCES INTENSIVE “SUMMER XPERIENCE” WORKSHOPS FOR TEENS AND COLLEGE STUDENTS
Music Performance And Music Production, Songwriting And The Sixth Annual Drummer's Reality Camp Offered
The Los Angeles College of Music offers two week-long intensive summer musical programs designed to give teens interested in music as a career a leg up on the competition. LACM’s Summer Xperience programs include Music Performance and Music Production (Session 1: June 22-26, 9am-5pm) as well as Songwriting and the 6th annual Drummer’s Reality Camp, hosted by LACM and DrumChannel.com (Session 2: June 29-July 3, 9am-5pm). Each session can be taken individually or a multi-session discount is available for those who take both sessions. DRC features lectures, ensemble workshops, clinics, music business workshops, concerts and a private lesson with a LACM Drum Department faculty member. The week-long camp also includes a group field trip to DW Factory and Showroom and Drum Channel production studios. “LACM’s Drummers Reality Camp offers an invaluable opportunity to drum students of all ages and experience levels and gives them access to some of the top drummers and clinicians in the world,” said Mike Packer, professional drummer and Executive Vice President, LACM.
Drummer’s Reality Camp is hosted by LACM and DrumChannel.com. This is the 6th annual DRC and is open to players of all skill levels, ages 17+. This one-of-a-kind, annual event brings a diverse group of drummers together and allows them to get up close and personal with some of the most respected names in drums.
Instructors include Ralph Humphrey (LACM Drum Dept. Co-Chair, American Idol, Franz Zappa), Joe Porcaro (LACM Drum Dept. Co-Chair, Stan Getz, Gerry Mulligan, Madonna), Dave Beyer (LACM Drum Dept. Hit Like A Girl Winners Chosen From Nearly 400 Contestants
The 2015 Hit Like A Girl Contest climaxed tonight with the selection of winners in a one and one-half hour awards show on Drumchannel.com. First, second, and third-place prizes were awarded in both Under 18 and 18+ categories to drummers chosen by a dozen judges drawn from the ranks of well-known female drummers.
The show was hosted by Publishers Phil Hood (DRUM! Magazine) and Mindy Abovitz (Tom Tom Magazine) and Jess Bowen, a judge and drummer for The Summer Set. Special guests throughout the evening include Alicia Warrington (drummer for Kate Nash), Kiran Gandhi (MIA), Youtube star Cobus Potgieter and Red Hot Chili Peppers superstar Chad Smith. During the evening a special drum jam was performed with Alicia, Motown percussion legend Bobbye Hall, and 2013 Hit Like A Girl winner Valeria Sepulveda (recently on the road with Diamante).
In the Under 18 category there were four winners in all with a tie for the second runner-up position. And, the winners are:
- Second runner-up: Natalie De Pergola (US), Elise (US)
- First runner-up: Becca Webster (US)
- Winner: Kalonica Nicx (Indonesia)
In the 18+ category the winners are as follows.
- Second runner-up: Brooke Custerson (Australia)
- First runner-up: Daiana Azar (Argentina)
- Winner: Lindsay Artkop (United States)

Hit Like A Girl Wraps Up Its International Drumming Contest With Star Studded Awards Show

Two 2015 Champions will be crowned and many of today’s top professional drummers will appear on the 4th Annual Hit Like A Girl Contest awards show scheduled to air live Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 4:00 PM Pacific time on DrumChannel.com.
