Your Check-In Experience Will No Longer Be The Same.
Ibiza is one of the places in the world where music is undoubtedly the star. Paiste exclusively collaborated with the exterior design of the building by tastefully hanging their cymbals which really ties everything together. Incredible events have happened here such as Bob Marley´s concert in 1979, the premiere of Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé´s anthem “Barcelona”, the place where Mike Oldfield wrote Tubular Bells III, the Ibiza hippy parties in the 70´s, the trance raves in lost coves or the marathon sets from the best DJs in the world. Ibiza inspires and lives music in a special way, and this is reflected in Santos Dorado Suites.
Your check-in experience will no longer be the same. From now on you will always want your hotel reception to have a bar next to a swimming pool with a cocktail by the sea. This is Santos Dorado Suites, the continuation of the Santos Ibiza project, with larger suites and top quality facilities whilst following the musical line and Rock & Roll spirit of Santos.
“Love Me Tender”, the legendary Elvis Presley song, will be just one of names given to the suites in Santos Dorado, paying tribute to records that have been certified gold. The suites are spacious and taken care of to the minimum detail; featuring refrigerators and Marshall sound system, a bar where your Ibizan adventure will begin, king size beds to rest after dancing and a lounge overlooking the sea where you can go with the flow. These suites are for larger than life characters.

Bedson Drum Co. Transports Drum Lugs Into The 21st Century
We've come to a point in the drumming community where traditional drum lugs are considered the industry standard for tensioning drum heads to a shell. If its not broke why fix it? Seattle startup Bedson Drum Co. decided to go against the grain and introduce a new concept for acoustic drumming called "Dialtune," a system that replaces traditional lugs and tension rods.
The Dialtune system ensures even tuning across the surface of any drumhead, with a unique cable and pulley system which according to Bedson Drum Co. founder Bryan Bedson came from "scrap parts from Home Depot" and proved the system worked "beautifully." The ease of use and consistency of Dialtune drums allow for optimal tuning to be achieved effortlessly, resulting in better resonance and consistent sound regardless of the shell materials or drumhead types used. Replacement of the tension rods allows the drumhead to be removed and replaced quickly and with minimal effort, letting drummers spend more time playing and less time tuning or replacing heads. The cable and pulley system would apply even tension to a drumhead, while allowing a drummer to raise or lower the pitch of the drum at a single point. The final product is set to debut in Nashville.NAMM Booth 104
Marco Soccoli Joins the Mapex and Sonor Artist Relations Team
Marco Soccoli has joined the artist relations team at Mapex and Sonor. He previously worked with Vic Firth, Evans, and Promark, and is well known to drummers in the music business. After graduating from St. John’s University with a degree in marketing and a minor in music, Marco got his start in the industry working retail on the famed 48th Street in Manhattan, first at Terminal Music, then as Manager of the Sam Ash Drum Department, then as Manager of the drum department at Manny’s. While at Sam Ash and Manny’s, Marco became a trusted ally and reliable supplier of gear and backline services for artists living in or touring through the New York City area.
It was during this time that Marco had the opportunity to meet Joe Hibbs, the previous Mapex artist relations director, who was already established as one of the most respected representatives in the industry. Marco learned the ropes from Joe by first understanding the importance of deep and honest relationships between the artists and company.
It was Marco’s relationships with and support of artists while at Sam Ash and Manny’s that ultimately led him to become the Director of Artist Relations for Vic Firth for the next 13 years, where he signed an untold number of legendary drummers and helped to create their signature sticks. In 2010, Marco joined D’Addario & Company to build the artist rosters for Evans Drumheads and Pro-Mark Drumsticks, brands he continues to represent as part of his newly-formed Artist Relations consulting company, MarcoAR LLC.
“The loss of Joe Hibbs is a hole that can’t be filled, but if there is one person that understands the importance of genuine and heartfelt relationships with artists as well as Joe did…it’s Marco,” states Mike Robinson, VP of Marketing for KHS America. “Fittingly, by representing Mapex and Sonor, Marco is now inheriting the role that his mentor left when Joe passed away earlier this year. We’re thrilled to have Marco on the team and look forward to the positive impact he’ll have.”
