Senri Kawaguchi Joins Hit Like A Girl Judging Team

Hit Like A Girl Contest today announced that Japanese drumming sensation Senri Kawaguchi has joined as a judge for the event. Just 17 years old Senri started on Yamaha DTX drums at the age of five and was soon taking lessons. At the age of 8 she began studying under the famous drum guru Mr. Kozo Suganuma. She won her first contest in 2007 and appeared on TV shows in Japan. At the age of 12 she started performing with the fusion band Fragile and released a DVD Horoscope. At that time she also posted her first YouTube performances.

In 2013 Senri released her first album A La Mode which got good critical reviews in Japan. Recently she has formed a new unit Kiyo*Sen with organist Kiyomi Otaka. Their new release is Chocolate Booster. Hit Like A Girl sponsors are delighted to add Senri* to the judging team.

About Hit Like A Girl

Hit Like A Girl is the global contest for female drummers featuring prizes totaling more than $20,000. Girls and women drummers can enter in one of two age categories between now and March 1. Each week finalists are chosen by celebrity judges and industry personnel. Following the entry period there are three weeks of fan voting to help determine wildcard finalists. The finalists are announced March 24, 2014 and then the celebrity judges review all the videos again. Winners are announced April 4, 2014.
