Our reviewer, Norman Weinberg, found that the triggers on Yamaha’s DTXtreme III Specialal have lightning-fast response, and playing the kit while listening through phones made him feel totally “at one with the instrument.” With all the great onboard sounds and the unlimited flexibility of sampling and loading in new sounds and songs, this unit won’t show its age for a good long time.
